Málaga TechPark delegation visits Kyoto Research Park to boost innovation collaboration
A delegation from Málaga TechPark paid a recent visit to Kyoto Research Park (KRP) as part of its 2024 Commercial Study Mission to Japan. The delegation, including representatives from the Málaga Chamber of Commerce and several Málaga-based companies, was welcomed by KRP, the City of Kyoto, the Kyoto Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and JETRO Kyoto.
This visit, the first in nine years between the two IASP full members, aimed to enhance global collaboration between the two innovation ecosystems. The delegation from Málaga expressed interest in participating in the Tech Tour Kyoto during the Osaka Kansai Expo 2025, an event designed to foster business exchanges and network building.
During the visit, both Málaga and Kyoto representatives made presentations detailing their respective initiatives and objectives. Málaga TechPark highlighted its recent developments and strategic goals, while the host institutions provided insights into Japan’s innovation landscape.
The mission underscored the commitment of both regions to fostering strategic connections in the technology sector and strengthening bilateral trade relations between Spain and Japan.
KRP welcomes Zhongguancun Science Park
The Málaga delegation wasn’t the only one to be recently welcomed in Kyoto. KRP also hosted a delegation from Zhongguancun Science Park (Z-Park), led by Liu Hui, deputy director-general of Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission. Received by Shigekata Mizuno, executive adviser of KRP and IASP board director, both parks discussed mutual activities for the upcoming ZGC Forum and IASP World Conference 2025 in Beijing.
