Portugal’s prime minister opens new PACT 3.0 buildings

Prime Minister Luís Montenegro of Portugal presided over the opening of the PACT 3.0 complex in Évora on 21 June, marking the completion of a major infrastructure expansion at the Alentejo Science and Technology Park. The new complex features four state-of-the-art buildings, adding approximately 6,000 m² to the park’s facilities.

These additions join the Centro Infante Dom Henrique, opened in 2022, and the original PACT building, inaugurated in 2015. The expanded park now encompasses six buildings over 9,000 m². Designed by architect Carrilho da Graça, the €10 million expansion aims to bolster research, technological development, and innovation in the Alentejo region, supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Alentejo 2020.

Soumodip Sarkar, executive president of PACT, stated, "With the completion of the PACT 3.0 complex, PACT consolidates its role as a driving force for regional development and renews its ambition to make the Alentejo a global reference in innovation."

The new buildings host startupsand companies in sectors such as aeronautics, health technologies, agriculturaltechnologies, and Industry 4.0, including Jerónimo Martins, TE Connectivity,and Fraunhofer Portugal. The PACT ecosystem supports over 60 companies,creating around 450 highly qualified jobs and contributing approximately €45million to the regional economy.
