Algarve Innovation Park development moves forward
The development of the Algarve Innovation and Technology Park (PPPITA) in Olhão, Portugal, has taken a significant step forward with the signing of a contract by the Mayor of Olhão. This agreement initiates the creation of a detailed plan for the park, located in the parish of Pechão.
The contract also includes the transfer of land designated for 548 public housing units, part of the municipality's long-term urban development strategy. The 48.58-hectare site will house technological enterprises, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and urban green spaces.
The landowner, in coordination with the local authority, has an 18-month deadline to finalise the PPPITA proposal. The plan must align with regional and municipal strategic objectives.
Within three months, the landowner will present a team to oversee the technical and legal aspects of the proposal for municipal approval, ensuring collaboration with local authorities throughout the process.
During the contract signing, Mayor António Miguel Pina highlighted the importance of the project in advancing rigorous urban planning and environmental integration. The event also allowed the City Council Executive to review the project's specifics, underscoring the partnership between the private sector and municipal authorities in advancing urban development.
