SRTIP launches First Emirati EV Bike "Sulmi’s"
Sharjah Research, Technology, and Innovation Park (SRTIP) are proud to announce the launch of the Sulmi EB-ONE, a cutting-edge electric motorbike. The unveiling marks a significant milestone for the UAE's sustainable transportation and mobility sector and fits the clean energy goals of the upcoming COP28.
The EB-ONE is the brainchild of Emirati start-up Sulmi. This trailblazing company has used the park’s SoiLAB R&D world-class facilities to turn their revolutionary dream into a reality. The announcement positions Sulmi at the forefront of the global demand for electric bikes and alternative methods to combat climate change.
The concept of the electric motorcycle has been around since 1895. However, the technology has never been fully realised for the mass market, which is why Sulmi’s creativity is so significant. Not only does the EB-ONE look incredible with its sleek design, but it’s also built to last. It stands out with its top speed of 150km/h, a 300km range on a single charge, and intelligent technologies prioritising the rider’s safety. It is designed and manufactured entirely in the UAE, symbolising Emirati excellence and innovation.
Sulmi’s EB-ONE is poised to reshape the motorcycle market in the UAE and beyond. Its inception arrives when innovative solutions to reverse climate change are much needed and are spurred on by the growing need for efficient, individual, and delivery transportation services. The electric bike addresses these needs and offers significant investment opportunities, aligning with the goals of the COP28 climate conference to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainability.
Emphasising the importance of this launch, Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, Chairperson of SRTIP, praises the advancements, "The EB-ONE is a revolutionary vehicle that represents the creativity and innovation of Emirati entrepreneurs.
SRTIP is proud to enable advanced technologies that align with the UAE's clean, sustainable transportation vision."
The Sulmi EB-ONE launch signifies a leap forward in the evolution of electric bikes. Its unveiling highlights the park's commitment to sustainable development, fostering a vibrant innovation ecosystem, and strengthening the UAE's position as a global hub for research and technology. It also demonstrates SRTIP’s ability to provide entrepreneurs with the perfect launch pad to bring new technologies to life.
CEO of SRTIP, Hussain Al Mahmoudi, explains, "The launch of Sulmi EB-ONE, the first Emirati product from the Open Innovation Labs (SoiLAB), is significant. Not only does it align with the UAE’s vision for reducing carbon emissions in the transportation sector, but it proudly falls under the banner of the “Made in the UAE” campaign. To see an Emirati-designed and built concept come to life at SRTIP is an extremely proud moment for everyone involved."
Omar Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, echoed, "The EB-ONE exemplifies the UAE's industrial model, intertwining sustainability concepts and fourth industrial revolution solutions with our advanced national infrastructure for quality."
Rashid Al Salami, founder of Sulmi, says, "We've designed and manufactured a vehicle that not only addresses a growing market need but also demonstrates the capabilities of Emirati talent in producing world-class products."
