Success factors for science parks in the developed world and emerging economies

Research published in 2005 contrasting STP successes and failures in the USA, Canada and Mexico(1) have highlighted some common essential ingredients for success and the nature of the success that can be expected in different regional environments. The International experience of the authors from working in the UK, Russia and South Africa suggest additional criteria need to be added to be able to predict the likely outcome from establishing an STP, particularly in the emerging economies of the world.
