This year’s programme includes a series of insightful tours, each offering unique perspectives and practical experiences in innovation and technology.

Exploratory visits

The first tour on offer is an exploration of Konza Technopolis, a cornerstone of Kenya’s Vision 2030 initiative aimed at creating a smart city and innovation hub. Participants will engage with top Kenyan startups, participate in a tree-planting activity, and explore innovative infrastructure solutions. The visit also includes interactive sessions detailing the development of Konza from its inception and a look at the Konza Cloud.

Innovative industries

Another highlight is a tour of Nia Fiber Group Limited, Kenya’s sole fiber optic manufacturer. This visit will provide insights into the company’s role in advancing the nation’s digital infrastructure and its contributions to global supply chains.

Additionally, participants can visit Drop Access Limited to learn about VacciBox, a solar-powered refrigeration system designed for off-grid areas, and its impact on healthcare sustainability. The Safaricom Innovation Centre tour will showcase a dynamic hub for technological advancement and entrepreneurship, offering state-of-the-art facilities for innovators and startups.

Digital empowerment

Further, the tour of the Luban IoT Lab & Jitume Hub at Machakos University will present an opportunity to interact with global IoT challenge winners and learn about digital initiatives aimed at empowering Kenyan citizens. Finally, the visit to the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI) will highlight its role in supporting SMEs through technology transfer, research and development, and business incubation.
