The Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) comprises the Tainan Science Park and the Kaohsiung Science Park, on a 1,613 hectare ecologically landscaped site.
It is home to over 200 resident companies, which formed industry clusters in the fields of semiconductors, optoelectronics, precision machinery, biomedical devices, and green energy.
STSP provides roughly 2,600 individual and family residential units, sports facilities, a nearly shopping mall caters to residents' everyday needs, as well as public art and facilities for cultural and artistic events. It is also home to the National Nanke International Experimental High School, which consists of an elementary school, junior high school, senior high school, and a bilingual department.
The Tainan Science Park site is semiconductor industry cluster, home to some of the world’s leading companies, while the demand of smartphone and tablet displays has seen the development of an optoelectronics cluster specialising in touchpad technologies. In cooperation with Shalun Green Science City, the Tainan site has also linked green energy firms with nearby academic and research institutions to develop an innovative green energy industry ecosystem.
At the Kaohsiung site the focus is on the biomedical sector, including programmes to develop smart healthcare services, increase medical device production, and to develop startups in the sector. The park is home to Taiwan's first 3D medical device printing and manufacturing workstation, including a 3D medical device printer.
