IASP’s one-day training seminar takes place the day before the main scientific programme at IASP Seville begins, and addresses the fundamentals of science parks (STPs) and areas of innovation (AOIs).

Sponsored this year by Ann Arbor SPARK (USA), the seminar offers a unique opportunity to learn the key pillars of STP/AOI management from peers with years of experience in the field, and to connect with international colleagues facing the same problems and challenges.

STP and AOI managers and experts from the IASP network will share their experiences and discuss what worked and what didn’t, shortening your learning curve and giving valuable new insights for the everyday work of new managers around the world. It is especially valuable for newcomers to our industry, new CEOs, and anyone currently working on setting up a new STP/AOI, and will look at the crucial main concepts in the inception, conceptualisation, planning and management of science parks and other areas of innovation: strategic models, incubation, marketing and communication, services, governance, challenges and opportunities.

The seminar will include an introduction to the STP model, fundamental building blocks and a look at the IASP Strategigram from IASP CEO Ebba Lund, as well as a session focusing on the AOI model, led by former IASP President Paul Krutko (Ann Arbor SPARK, USA). Legal experts Robert Alderson and Mariella Massaro (Berggren Oy, Finland) will explore the key role of intellectual property services for STP/AOI companies; Fernando Bittencourt Luciano (Hotmilk, Brazil) will discuss the importance of a sound marketing and communication strategy, and Diego de Biasio (Technoport, Luxembourg) will share his expertise in Business incubation. To complete the programme, Mieke de Bruin (Utrecht Science Park, the Netherlands) will cover the essentials of science park services, and Josep Piqué (LaSalle Technova Barcelona, Spain, and another former IASP President) will be joining us to talk about governance and stakeholder engagement.

It's a great way to start the conference, giving close access to international experts in a smaller forum than our main event, giving attendees a networking boost as well as introducing all the key concepts of our industry.

Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis, so register soon at https://iaspworldconference.com/pre-conference-training-seminar/
