i+Med inaugurates ‘Gure Etxea’, a new hub for biomedical innovation

i+Med has officially inaugurated ‘Gure Etxea’ (The House of Scientists), a state-of-the-art research facility at the Basque Country Technology Park. Spanning 4,300 m², the new building marks a major milestone in biomedical research and technology development, creating over 200 jobs and reinforcing the region’s role in scientific innovation.

The inauguration was led by Lehendakari Imanol Pradales, alongside regional Ministers Mikel Jauregi and Juan Ignacio Pérez, who highlighted the Basque Government’s commitment to supporting research, entrepreneurship, and talent retention. Pradales also announced the launch of the Talent Strategy, aimed at strengthening the region’s innovation ecosystem.

Gure Etxea is designed as a collaborative space for over 100 scientists and researchers, focusing on nanohydrogels, personalised medicine, and advanced medical devices. Research will support applications in traumatology, ophthalmology, dermatology, and aesthetic medicine, with a strong emphasis on controlled drug release and high-value medical solutions.

The facility offers cutting-edge laboratories, open innovation spaces, and access to the latest technologies, all set within a natural environment conducive to scientific creativity. It will serve as a meeting point for researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders, promoting knowledge exchange and accelerating breakthroughs in biomedicine.

i+Med has developed Gure Etxea entirely through local investment, reinforcing its commitment to regional economic growth and scientific leadership on a global scale.
