The keynote speakers for 41st IASP World Conference on Science Parks and Areas of Innovation feature two distinguished leaders whose work bridges global development and technological innovation.
Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, will open the conference. Since assuming her role in 2017, Azoulay has guided UNESCO through a period of significant transformation. Her leadership has been marked by a strong focus on global challenges, including the protection of cultural heritage and the promotion of universal education. With a particular emphasis on expanding educational opportunities for women and girls and addressing the ethical implications of artificial intelligence, Azoulay has positioned UNESCO as a pivotal force in driving inclusive and sustainable development.
Concluding the conference will be Professor Washington Yotto Ochieng, CBE, EBS, FREng, Head of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London. Ochieng’s career spans academia, industry, and government advisory roles, where he has played a crucial role in shaping infrastructure and poverty alleviation strategies. His work with the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, as well as his leadership in sustainable urban development initiatives across Africa, underscores his expertise in integrating advanced technologies into practical solutions for economic resilience.
These keynote addresses are set to provide invaluable insights into the role of technology, education, and infrastructure in shaping future economies, offering attendees a deep dive into the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
In addition to these keynote speakers, IASP Nairobi will welcome a number of special guests, including Kenyan Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of ICT Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u, PhD, and Principal Secretary for the Ministry of ICT Eng. John Tanui, MBS.
