The BMI training programme is a 2-3 day hands-on workshop. After completing the programme, participants are able to facilitate similar workshops on their own. At these workshops STP and business incubation managers will practice BMI on specific real cases of their own and get to know the toolset through a learning by doing process. The workshops use the innovative business model generation toolset, which is: - Human-centred and driven by design principles - Open source based - Globally replicable

To overcome weaknesses in classic management tools, which are too general and complex to fulfil the need for self-driven innovation processes. To facilitate the creation of new value-adding services in STPs. The purpose of the ""Business Model Innovation"" (BMI) workshop series is to inspire and to train STP managers to work with the state-of-the-art toolset of the ""Business Model Generation"". STP managers will become pioneers to boost innovation and to design new growth engines within their STPs and their Areas of Innovation to the benefit of all stakeholders.

It is replicable globally, because it addresses and adapts to the specific, local business environment. To think systematically about business models changes the way we innovate and develop new growth engines. The IASP community can join the movement with benefits on two levels: 1. On a STP level, creating new business models and value-adding services for their respective organisation, and 2. On a tenant/stakeholder level, by facilitating workshops to train them on BMI.

They have already established a BMI community and introduced BMI workshops as a key element of the incubation programme. Some of the incubatees have already successfully developed new products and services as a direct result of their participation in some of these workshops.
