A Model for University of Tehran Area of Innovation (UTAOI) with focus on University of Tehran Knowledge City (UTKC) Project

Nowadays it is in cities where innovation takes place and contributes to a better economic performance of territories and a greater citizen's quality of life. The city is “the ultimate enabler of innovation, entrepreneurship and growth,” because it “collects skills, firms, physical capital, and provides a physical platform for them to be recombined into new and productive forms.” Analysts worldwide are bringing a new focus to the role of cities as catalysts for development and innovation.Areas Of Innovation (AOIs) are treated as instruments of urban innovation policy for developing creative and innovative areas within the cities. The aim of this paper is to create A Meta Model for University of Tehran’s Area Of Innovation (UT-AOI) focusing on its “Knowledge City” Program. By literature review and case studies, dimensions and assetsof AOI are recognized. Finally, a conceptual model is created including Governance and Regulatory,tangible assets and intangible assets.
