Hauwa Yabani elected new President of IASP Africa Division
IASP is pleased to announce that Hauwa Yabani of Abuja Technology Village, Nigeria, has been elected as the new president of the IASP Africa Division. She takes over from Alan Boshwaen (Botswana Innovation Hub, Botswana), who comes to the end of his term.
IASP members will already know Hawua Yabani from her work as IASP Treasurer from 2016-2018. As CEO of Abuja Technology Village, Hauwa is currently leading the development programme including masterplan management, large scale infrastructure and real estate development, innovation management and human capital mobilization.
Hauwa has provided technical advice and support to senior government officials in the areas of policy formulation, programmes design and implementation management, and entrepreneurship development, all under the auspices of the UN Development Programme. A Fellow of the Nigeria Leadership Initiative, an honour conferred after a Yale-administered seminar on values-based leadership, Hauwa is also a trustee of initiatives on outsourcing development, free zones management, and a business angel network. She is the founder of a non-governmental initiative for revival and sustainable development that focuses on youth empowerment.
She is an alumnus of the University of Reading and the London School of Economics and Political Science, with degrees in Accounting and Finance, Analysis, and the Design and Management of Information Systems.
On behalf of the Africa Division, we thank Alan Boshwaen for his work over the last two years, and welcome Hauwa Yabani back to the Board!
