This year, 7,872 km separated candidates of the bid to host IASP 2025. Two solid candidates made for a very close race: both Noi TechPark in Bolzano (Italy) and Zhongguancun Science Park in Beijing (China) showcased their best assets, innovations, culture and surroundings, making it difficult for IASP members to choose who to vote for.

At the end of the day we could only have one winner... The votes were cast and counted, and Zhongguancun Science Park is the winner of the IASP 2025 bid!

Z-Park, covering 488 square kilometres of Beijing, is considered China’s first national innovation demonstration zone. They are divided into 16 sub-parks committed to various sectors of new-generation information technology, such as AI, quantum information and blockchain – which has allowed to speed up the development of frontier technologies. Zhongguancun Science Park is also working in healthcare, where right now they are investigating different areas in the field, such as vaccines and digital healthcare.

The innovation community also houses a large number of both tech enterprises and business incubators, which has allowed to create an ecosystem of innovation where entrepreneurs have been breaking traditional barriers and exploring new technologies, and business models. This evolution has impacted the modernization of Beijing. With a focus on openness and sharing, Zhongguancun Science Park stands ready to deepen exchanges with the science and technology community and welcome global peers to Beijing in two years time.

Warm thanks to both candidates for the great effort in putting together two great proposals to host the IASP community, and congratulations to all the team at Z-Park!
