Description:
Mobility lies at the very heart of Area Science Park’s value proposition: our campus offers services and spaces for research and innovation, conveniently connected to roads and with ample parking. This paper explores our roadmap to sustainable mobility, focusing on 3 questions: what is the potential of the shortterm, low-investment actions? What actions can be effective in 2-3 years? Can we achieve net zero emissions? Data on home-to-work journeys, vehicles used, transport services available and willingness of people to change their habits are analysed. We found the “Avoid-Shift-Improve” paradigm can help us achieve good results in the short term. To achieve net-zero emissions further efforts are needed for extra-urban commuters (30-60 km) and the share of about 50% of people who are not willing to leave their cars at home. Reshaping the spaces offered in our campus and creating workspaces close to where people actually live should be considered
