Harnessing the Untapped Potential of Anambra Digital Tribe: a Case For Developing Countries

Anambra State Government set up the Solution Innovation District (SID) with the key mandate to activate and build a thriving innovation ecosystem which includes digital skills, startups, business incubation, business acceleration and angel network.

Due to low level of digital literacy and considering the importance of digital skills in the innovation ecosystem, SID is building the Anambra Digital Tribe which is a tribe competent is various digital skills. The goal is to groom them to have skills that are competitive at home and exportable abroad.

There are quite enormous challenges such as poor infrastructure, digital divide, poor quality of education etc hampering speed but we are also combating these challenges to achieve our goal of building a District that will serve the local market and beyond.

We adopted an end-to-end methodology which includes sensitization, training and exposing them to opportunities for placement. We pay special attention to attract women in the digital space.
