UC3M Parque Científico
The UC3M Science Park is an innovative environment that helps to start up and develop entrepreneurial projects. Based in Leganes, Madrid, it is managed and owned by the University Carlos III.
The park promotes relationship-building between researchers and companies facilitating interaction and collaboration through the application of patents and UC3M research results and the initiation of joint projects.
Services for entrepreneurs include the Incubation and Acceleration Program for Businesses, that has supported and contributed to the creation of more than 150 innovative companies. This programme offers training and development and assessment in areas related to intellectual property rights, funding, and R+D+i. The European Space Agency also has a business incubation centre on site, supporting entrepreneurs in the space sector.
The park is also home to several applied research laboratories focusing on security, aeronautics and space. These include a spectral sensor lab, an aeronautic structure lab for modelling problems and testing the impact of high speeds, and an antenna lab for studying specific electromagnetic frequencies. It also certifies antennae for base transceiver stations in partnership with Telefonica.
Other labs focus on the fields of disability and dependence, such as a healthcare robotics lab focusing on autonomous systems providing support to the elderly, and the multidisciplinary Laboratory of Assistive Technologies (TECASIST) with a team of experts specialising in electronics and optoelectronics applied to audiovisual and sensory accessibility.
