High Tech Campus Eindhoven (HTCE) is the smartest square kilometer in Europe. More than 12,000 researchers, developers and entrepreneurs are working at over 200 companies and institutes, developing future technologies and products. They are part of a unique and vibrant ecosystem of established global brands, leading research institutes, fast-growing enterprises, high-tech start-ups and service companies. Located at the heart of the Brainport region, campus companies are responsible for nearly 40% of all Dutch patent applications. The Campus will grow to number 15,000 employees in the coming years by attracting new corporate players, SMEs and start-ups within the R&D focus areas. In addition, the Campus intends to strengthen and stimulate the growth of the existing SMEs and start-ups. Health & Vitality, Energy & Storage, Smart Environments & Connectivity, Applied Intelligence and Software & Platforms are our main R&D focus areas. The campus is 1 km2 (0.39 sq mi) in size and includes 45,000 m2 (480,000 sq ft) of R&D facilities, 300,000 m2 (3,229,279 sq. ft.) office space. 15,000 m2 is used by technology start-ups and an area of 87,500 m2 (941,873 sq. ft.) is reserved for (re)development.
