IASP member Technopark Morocco has recently inaugurated their newest facility. Located in Essaouira, the park’s latest additional site received a 20-million MAD investment for its construction, and has now opened 30,000m2 to the local innovation community.

The new site, home to high-quality startups and SMEs, is part of Technopark’s diversification programme to support innovation throughout the country. The programme works on bringing new opportunities to the Moroccan youth through their commitment to a strategy of regional duplication of its model, currently having 6 different locations distributed across the Moroccan geography. The inauguration of the site in Essaouira marked a significant milestone in their expansion, continuing to ignite entrepreneurship and innovation nationwide. It is strategically positioned in a port city of the Atlantic coast, where they will continue to support organisations working in ICT, green tech, and cultural industries. The city's specific blend of history, culture, and innovation makes it a compelling destination for the convergence of technology while enjoying its vibrant ecosystem.

Technopark Morocco keeps growing under the guidance of Lamiae Benmakhlouf, who in her 7 years as Director General has directly supervised and influenced its expansion and success.

Government officials and ministers attended the event, and André Azoulay, Advisor to the King of Morocco Mohammed VI, officially inaugurated Technopark Essaouira. Ghita Mezzour, Minister of  digital transition and administrative reform noted the importance and impact of the park in the country’s digital development, saying “our investment in Essaouira is broadening the reach of Moroccan startups both at a national and international level”.

As additional news from Technopark Morocco, IASP CEO Ebba Lund recently visited Technopark’s Tangier site. She joined manager Hind Talamsi and digital startup coordinators Amine Maache and Nour Aherdan in a tour of the park, where Ebba had a chance to visit and engage in conversation with local startups active in the creative industries, seeing the work of some of their most innovative residents and key players including startup companies working in the video game industry, robotics, and IT. They also discussed the essential role that Technopark plays in the strategic development of the companies supported by its network.
