The Vaal University of Technology Southern Gauteng Science and Technology Park (VUT SGSTP) was established in 2012 as a strategic technology hub in the Southern Gauteng region of South Africa. Located in Sebokeng, the park spans 172 hectares and features infrastructure such as large auditoriums, office spaces, and incubation facilities. Its proximity to major industrial partners like ArcelorMittal and Sasol, along with access to key transportation routes, enhances its strategic significance.
VUT SGSTP aims to support enterprise and regional industrial development, foster research, innovation, and technology advancement, and drive community impact through partnerships. To achieve these goals, the park has developed several technology platforms, including the Advanced Manufacturing Platform (AMP), which specializes in advanced product design and additive manufacturing using cutting-edge 3D printing technology, and the Enterprise Development Unit (EDU), which facilitates technology transfer, offering intellectual property services, commercialization support, and training programs. The Centre of Footwear Entrepreneurship (CoFE) focuses on innovation and capacity building in the footwear and leather industries, Additionally, the E-Waste Container Project tackles unemployment by developing e-waste recycling technologies in collaboration with government and industry stakeholders.
Through these initiatives, VUT SGSTP continues to make significant contributions to technological innovation, skills development, and economic growth in the Southern Gauteng region.
