Description:

This paper presents the Starter Kit project that was deployed in the Digital and Innovation Center building in the French Toulon Provence Méditerranée Metropolis within the innovative Citylab framework. Citylab is an urban laboratory promoting smart cities1 where innovative solutions can be initiated and demonstrated, particularly concerning energy transition programmes.

The Starter kit experiment is twofold: the first one is a technical device based on multiple sensors and a platform for the data visualisation and analysis. Several recommendations – technical - are then provided to increase the monitoring and improve the energy impacts of the building. The second strategic element consists in an awareness raising process that is based on a green nudge approach. Its objective is to promote behavioural changes of the users leading them to reduce their carbon footprint associated with a STP analysis to evaluate users’ feedbacks and adjust the nudge approach accordingly.
