Seminar on Smart Cities and Science Parks at Konza Technopolis, Kenya
As an activity organised by Konza Technopolis in the run up to IASP Nairobi, an intensive 3-day seminar was organised on Smart Cities and Science Parks at Konza Technopolis, Kenya, on 27-30 August. During the seminar, there was an exchange of knowledge, best practices, peer learning, interactive workshops, and discussions focused on strategic positioning, innovation management, and sustainability within science parks.
Fellow IASP member Malaga Techpark represented the international community at this event, where Director of Technology Transfer and International Relations, Sonia Palomo, had the opportunity to meet with key figures in the technology and governmental sectors during her stay in Kenya. Among the most notable meetings was a strategic encounter with Kenya's Principal Secretary of the Ministry of ICT and Digital Economy, John Tanui, and the CEO of Konza Technopolis, John Paul Okwiri.
The experience gained and the contacts made during this seminar provided an great foundation for the IASP World Conference the month after, where the ongoing relationship between Málaga TechPark and Konza Technopolis culminated in a MoU signed during the event: in the coming months, these relationships will be solidified through information exchange programs and technical study visits under this framework.
