Konza Technopolis's steps to a sustainable Africa
IASP member Konza Technopolis has recently partnered with UNDP and the Kenyan Ministry of Information, Communications and The Digital Economy establishing the Timbuktoo GreenTech Hub in their premises.
With millions of Africans still lacking access to affordable and reliable electricity, the Timbuktoo GreenTech Hub is designed to support startups developing groundbreaking solutions in renewable energy. The accelerator will help businesses scale technologies that reduce carbon emissions, enhance sustainability, and contribute to long-term economic growth across the continent. Launching in December, the first cohort has shown promise, with over 688 applications across 46 African countries. As they move forward, they eagerly welcome new partnerships to help realize their vision for a sustainable future.
The new addition to the Silicon Savannah will help face Africa’s energy deficiency that hinder the growth of industries in the continent, focusing on renewable energy technologies that pave the way for decentralized solutions that enhance energy security.
