Fernando Amestoy elected new President of IASP Latin America Division
IASP is pleased to announce that Fernando Amestoy, of Pando Science and Technology Park (Uruguay) has been elected as the new President of the IASP Latin American Division.
He takes over from Francisco Saboya, Porto Digital (Brazil) who reaches the end of his two year term.
Mr Amestoy has been Chairman of the Pando Science and Technology Park and CEO of the Technology Pole of the School of Chemistry (UDELAR) since 2012. He previously served as CEO of the Research and Innovation Agency of Uruguay, and Deputy General Coordinator of the Technological Development Program, an executive unit of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Uruguay for implementing an Inter-American Development Bank loan.
Over the last 20 years, he has been involved in science, technology, and innovation management, coordinating innovation programs supported by the IADB, the World Bank, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and has worked as international consultant on these topics. He was elected as an IASP Director in 2017.
